LB Bain lifted a heavy load on Saturday
Bolingbrook, Ill. four star ranked inside linebacker prospect Ryan Bain (6-foot-2, 250 pounds) is one of the strongest players in the Illinois recruiting Class of 2005, and Bain more than proved that at last Saturday's 22nd annual Rudy's Gym Powerlifting Meet. Bain was named as the meet's co-MVP, and Bain talked about his performance as well as his remaining summer plans.

“I was sort of disappointed with my numbers overall," Ryan Bain said. “I really feel that I could have lifted better and put up better numbers at Rudy's meet. We really wanted to win that event from a team standpoint, but we came up short by 85 pounds."
"I was named co-MVP of the meet, which was really nice. We had three other teams at the meet that were also really good in Joliet Catholic, Providence and Lockport. Powerlifting is great, and yet it also doesn't make you a football player at all. Powerlifting and lifting in general definitely is needed, but it doesn't tell the whole picture. I'm the type of player that needs to be evaluated on the field."
Bain, who lifted 1,565 pounds on Saturday (600 squat/400 bench/565 deadlift) will also make a few unofficial visits starting this Friday.
"I'm going to check out Michigan State on Friday, then I'm also planning to make unofficial visits to Minnesota, Louisville and Indiana over the next few weeks."
Bain will also be working hard getting ready for his senior season for the remainder of his summer
"I'm going to be running as well as lifting this summer. As far as our team is concerned, we need to really get on the same page, and we realized in our team camp that we need to have everyone on the team step it up. Our team camp this summer definitely helped us sort some things out, but now it's time to really focus in on our season. We need to really get after it in doubles, because we have a really tough schedule this year. We'll be ready."
