Layne takes in MSU spring game

Michigan State was the first school to extend an offer to 2016 Cleveland (Ohio) Benedictine wide receiver Justin Layne, who made his way to East Lansing this past weekend for the Spartan's spring game.
"It was amazing," Layne said. "The atmosphere was crazy, the coaches treated me well and I just liked the intensity and how fast the players played."

Last Saturday's visit to Michigan State was an opportunity for Layne to get familiar with the Spartan's coaching staff.
"I spent most of my time with Coach [Curtis] Blackwell," Layne said. "I talked to Coach D [Mark Dantonio] and Coach [Terry] Samuel a little bit. They just told me to get stronger, get better and keep building that relationship."
Coming off the visit, both Layne and the Michigan State coaches expressed their mutual interest.
"I heard from them that I was their top receiver in the class of 2016," Layne said. "So far, they're probably in my top three."
The offer from Michigan State was joined just last week by one from West Virginia, giving the 6-foot-3, 170-pound wideout two offers thus far in the process.
"That was out of the blue," Layne said of the West Virginia offer. "I didn't know I was getting recruited by them, actually."
Additional coaches have been by Layne's school since the spring evaluation period opened. Just this week he has seen coaches from Illinois, Purdue, Rutgers, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee and Notre Dame.
