The Temecula (Calif.) Chaparral standout said California and Washington State have both been talking to him for a long time. He met with the coaches and now both Pac-12 programs have offered.
It's so early in his recruitment that Lawal doesn't have any favorites yet, but he's definitely thrilled that Cal and Washington State are already on the board.
"I saw Cal at least three times prior to getting offered," Lawal said. "Coach (Andy) Buh came and he said he really liked me and he just had to talk with me. We talked a little bit and then two days later he told me to call him and he offered me that day.
"With Washington State, we don't talk really that much but I've talked to the coach at least a couple times and he came in and liked my film. A couple weeks ago, he watched my highlight tape with the defensive coordinator and I gave him a call and they gave me an offer, too."
The two offers are in for the 2015 linebacker and many other programs have reached out as well in the last few months.
The Temecula Chaparral recruit said Arizona State, Nebraska, Missouri, Colorado and Colorado State have contacted him and are starting the recruiting process. Lawal is excited where things are going.
"Things are definitely picking up," Lawal said.
