Jordan Lasley did consider other schools. USC was poking around, other Pac-12 programs had offered and he had an impressive list put together.
But after spending more time with the UCLA coaching staff and being around the players, the Gardena (Calif.) Serra three-star wide receiver decided to shut his recruitment down and not consider others.
Lasley, one of the top performers at the B2G West Coast Bowl practices last weekend, is happy with his commitment to the Bruins and he's not going anywhere else.
"Just being around the coaches and seeing how much they actually do care about me and how much they actually do love me stood out most," Lasley said. "Being around the players like Jordan Payton, Kenny Walker and Devin Lucien, those guys are good guys. That's the atmosphere I want to be around."
The Serra standout makes it no secret he had interest in USC and even called the Trojans a childhood favorite.
Instead of taking visits and making all kinds of different decisions, Lasley chose to shut it down and not look at others. Boise State, Indiana, Utah and others had offered, but the three-star receiver said UCLA is the perfect fit for him.
And he's relieved to have it over.
"It takes off a lot of stress," Lasley said. "Getting three, four, five, sometimes 10 different calls from different colleges every week… it gets stressful, especially staying up with my studies and everything with that, too. Just to settle it down takes off a lot of stress.
"It's good for me because I know they have a competitive nature and that's what we have at Serra. Our motto is to go out there and compete. Just to bring my Serra flavor over to UCLA and start a Serra-to-UCLA pipeline is just good for me. I'm excited about it."
