Larry McCammon is a name to know in Alabama

UAB has come through with an offer and more will as they see his junior film in the coming months.

Larry McCammon is a 5-foot-10, 188 pound running back out of Hoover (Ala.) and his coach compares him to the great Reggie Bush. That is a big statement, but when you watch McCammon, you see all he brings to the table and it makes sense.

"I have a pretty versatile game" said McCammon. "I can run the ball, I can catch the ball and I feel I could do a little bit of everything.

"I feel I run with patience and that I am good at reading the blocks. I think I have some explosiveness too."

Schools are starting to notice. Clemson, Mississippi State and South Carolina are three that have the 2019 prospect on their radars. He was over in Starkville for a game early in the season.

"When I went over to Mississippi State, I really liked it there. It was just a good visit overall for me. I liked the coaches, I liked how the team played and game-day was nice there.

"They have some interest in me, so that is nice. They want me to visit again and I plan to be back. They made a nice impression on me."

McCammon spent time on the Clemson and South Carolina campuses over the summer. He took part in each of their camps. He may return in 2018.

"I really like the way both schools do things and how the coaches are. Each has a great program, they produce top players and I had a good time at each school. I have interest in both of them and I may go back to their camps next summer."

Growing up in Alabama, you figure McCammon grew up in a house full of crimson or orange and blue. It was the latter for him, even though he has not real preference.

"I was kind of in the middle of Alabama and Auburn," said McCammon. "I liked both of them growing up, but my parents like Auburn the most. I would love to have offers from either of them. Both are great schools with great football programs.

"I just never really had a favorite out of the two."

Right now, McCammon is letting recruiting play its course while he focused on his junior season. The playoffs are right around the corner and he knows he is at a great place to help prepare him for the future.

"Playing at Hoover definitely helps me. The coaches push us, they teach us so much and I know they always have us ready. Playing against the guys in practice helps a lot too. It is great to be at a program like Hoover for so many reasons.

"That is my main focus right now."
