Larkins ready for visit to Oregon

Oakland (Calif.) Tech cornerback Virdell Larkins is one of the top players in California. And his opponents already know that.
The 5-foot-10, 177-pound Larkins has had schools calling him since the beginning of the September calling period. Those calls have included calls from Oregon, California, Colorado, Kansas State, Washington and Arizona.

“The phone has been pretty busy at our house,” he said. “I enjoy talking to the coaches about everything. Several of them have tried to get me to set up an official visit. But, I want to take a couple and see where things sit then.”
Those couple won’t take long to get out of the way.
”I have three left to set and take sometime,” the four-star rated Larkins said. “I went to Washington State two weeks ago and I go to Oregon next week."
Larkins claims no favorite among the host of teams recruiting him.
"I honestly am worried about our season first," he said. "The other teams don't throw my way much. The first game they did and I picked one off and that was it. After that, not many have. I don’t have a real long time left in my high school career, so I better enjoy it.”
Larkins also offers a potential option at wide receiver.
"I play both ways for our team," he said. "I'm averaging one touchdown every game. Some schools are talking about the possibility of playing receiver. But, I think it will be cornerback first. We’ll see how that works out. It really doesn’t matter to me. I just want to get out there and play. Whatever position it is, then that’s fine.”
