LaPorte talks Penn State, other interest

Piscataway, N.J. athlete Kyle LaPorte still holds one offer. The 5-foot-10, 175-pounder discussed the latest with his season as well as the increase in interest he has received in recent weeks.
"The season has been going well, we're 5-2," he said. "I've been doing well. I really improved my defensive game. I have two picks on the year and eight receptions on offense for 300-yards. Overall I'm pretty happy with how I'm doing, but there is still some work to do.

"There is a big difference in my play. I'm coming up on the run a lot and really doing well in coverage."
On the recruiting front, LaPorte holds one offer from Penn State and noted that the scandal hasn't hurt his feelings on the Nittany Lions.
"I've talked to the coaches since it came out and I don't really know, they haven't really talked about it," he said. "It hasn't changed my feelings on Penn State. I think they're a really good team and I really like their coaching staff. I talk to them most every week and I like the way they play, they have a good atmosphere."
While Penn State has the one offer out, LaPorte is getting other interest.
"The school really showing interest is West Virginia," he said. "I'm also hearing a lot from Alabama, Florida State, Florida, Miami, Michigan State, Purdue, Vanderbilt and Virginia."
Is LaPorte high on anybody?
"I'm really impressed with West Virginia just because of their whole scheme."
In the meantime, LaPorte has taken a few visits this season already to the likes of Florida, Miami, Penn State and Rutgers.
"The Rutgers game really impressed me," he said. "I didn't think they'd be that good this year, but they really impressed and I just like the way they handled me there."
