Isaiah Langley thanked his coaches, his family, friends and those close to him.
He built up the drama perfectly and it was well worth it for USC fans when he pulled out a familiar hat, put it on and announced his commitment to the Trojans on Tuesday at The Opening.
Langley will be joining a high-level group of cornerbacks at USC, including former five-star Adoree' Jackson and four-star Chris Hawkins. His friendship with Arizona State linebacker Derik Calhoun, who had been committed to the Trojans, paid off as well.
"I've investigated a lot starting with D.J. Calhoun, he was committed there for the longest time," Langley said. "I have a very close connection with him and he took me there my first and second time and I just fell in love with the campus.
"I was like, 'This is where I want to be.' Great education and at the same time I'm playing for a prestigious program."
This one had been set for a while, although the four-star cornerback from Pleasanton (Calif.) Foothill kept things closely guarded in the days before his announcement.
Langley, who looked good at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge Presented by Under Armour last month in Baltimore, did not have a top five list, did not name specific favorites and did not have a publicized leader going into his decision.
Even days before the four-star made his commitment to USC, he was not completely sure he was going to commit at The Opening. However, a day before he left for Oregon, Langley had decided he was ready to make his choice and he was completely happy with his final decision.
California had always been a serious contender in his recruitment, mainly because it was the first school to offer him and because it's close to his home. He has shown nothing but respect for that program throughout his recruitment. Arizona State was right there as well because of his close relationship with Calhoun.
But USC was where Langley wanted to go most, where he could compete with some outstanding cornerbacks, and the Trojans landed another four-star stud in their class.
