Lang: Dawgs have slight edge

An official scholarship has yet to materialize, but that hasn’t stopped the Georgia Bulldogs from rising to the top of Tucker (Ga.) standout Brandon Lang’s list.
“Georgia and Florida State are my top two,” he said. “It’s pretty much down to those two. I know I’m going to wind up at one of those, and Georgia has a slight edge.

“I like the school, the education program there, and the distance from home. All of that is in (Georgia’s) favor. With Florida State, I like how they’re known for great defensive ends, putting a lot of guys in the pros. I like the coaches there, too, especially Jody Allen.”
The Seminoles have offered Lang (6-5, 225, 4.55). He’s anticipating the Bulldogs will follow suit in the near future.
“Coach Garner told me they were probably going to offer, but wanted to see one of my games since I didn’t get a chance to go to their camp this summer,” he said. “They said it would be sometime early this season, but didn’t tell me exactly when. I think they want to surprise me.”
Lang also has offers from Louisville, Maryland, North Carolina, Wake Forest and Illinois.
As a junior, Lang recorded 50 tackles, 19 tackles for loss and 16 sacks. He has the ability to play either end (where he’s rated the No. 18 prospect by Rivals.com) or outside linebacker.
Academically, he maintains a 2.6 GPA and has scored an 820 on the SAT.
