On paper not much about 6-foot-2, 222 pound LaGrange, Ga., defensive end Braxton Kelley catches your eye. However, when all is said and done Kelley will sign with a major conference school.
“I’ve been getting stuff from all over really, Auburn, Georgia, Arkansas, Kentucky, Colorado, South Carolina and a few others,” Kelley said.
Kelley was one of the cornerstones on the class 3-A state champion Granger squad as a junior. In his junior season he was named to the all-state, all-region and all-county teams.

“My top two schools are Georgia and Auburn right now. I went to Auburn’s spring game last Saturday. I really liked the campus and the facilities. It was a real nice place. I got to talk to all the defensive coaches and coach Tubberville. It is probably the closest school to my house, it’s only about 45 minutes.”
Kelley, who runs the 40 yard dash in 4.7 seconds, collected 144 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 13 sacks and recovered two fumbles as a junior.
“I know that I’m going to go to the Nike camp at Georgia Tech in May. Past that I’m not 100 percent sure of any other camps that I’m going to. I will probably go to the Auburn summer camp and possibly Tennessee.”
Kelley lists Colorado, Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennessee and South Carolina as possible suitors in addition to his two favorites.
“I don’t want to go too far from home; that is one thing that is important to me. I would really like to play for a school that is going to compete for championships and stuff too.”
