Honors: Berniard was a first-team Class 4A all-state selection as a junior, along with honors as an all-district and all-parish pick.
Statistics: Berniard didn’t have any stats since he is an offensive lineman.
Favorite Schools: Berniard lists LSU as his top team, followed by Florida, Mississippi State, Colorado, Ole Miss and Louisiana Lafayette.
Skinny: St. Thomas Moore in Lafayette, La., is one of the top programs in the Bayou State and it’s also home to one of the top line prospects in the Class of 2004. That’s because 6-foot-7, 305-pound Geoff Berniard is on the prowl.
According to his coach, Jim Hightower, you can definitely expect the college coaches to be flocking to Lafayette to check out Berniard.
“He’s big, strong and has good footwork,” Hightower said about Berniard. “He also has a good work ethic.”
Berniard used many of the same things to describe himself, but also noted that he plays smart.
“I play smart and aggressive,” he said.
Berniard plans on attending camps this summer at LSU and Mississippi State and admits that he grew up a fan of both schools.
When it comes time to make a final decision, Berniard identified a few important factors.
“I think the school’s size will be key to me,” he said.
“I don’t want something too big or too small. The location would also be important. I want to have my family be able to see my in action. The coaches and school record will also be things I look at.”
