La Marque OL moving up the charts

When you’re one of the top teams in the state of Texas, you’re bound to have players that are going to get Division I attention.
That’s the case at La Marque, Texas, which is home to more than 10 prospects that could sign Division I scholarships.

One of those players that hasn’t gotten a ton of attention yet, but should is offensive guard Robert Conley.
The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Conley gets weekly calls from Nebraska, Syracuse, TCU and Utah. He’s going to visit Utah on January 16.
“I’m still looking for my first scholarship, but I really think that guys like Nebraska and Syracuse are close to offering me,” he said.
Conley, who will lead La Marque into the state semifinals at 7 p.m. Friday night against El Campo at the University of Houston’s stadium, said each of the schools on his list have strong points.
“Nebraska has the tradition that everybody knows about and who wouldn’t want to play for a team like that,” Conley said. “Syracuse puts a lot of guys in the NFL, and that’s something I’m excited about. TCU is an up-and-coming program that almost went undefeated this year.
“Utah is just now recruiting me hard, so I need to learn more about them.”
