La Marque has flurry of verbals

After winning a Class 4A state championship this Fall, La Marque head coach Bryan Irwin announced that he would be taking the Flower Mound Marcus coaching post. He won two state championships at La Marque.
Recruiting has also become feverish and college coaches have been combing the halls the past couple of days.

Kansas State received a verbal commitment from defensive end Raphael Guidry, after a scholarship became available when Fort Bend Marshall's Tyrone Sonier switched to Texas Tech.
"The K-State coaches were in today and he told me that he committed to them last week," Irwin said.
The Houston Cougars scored with offensive lineman Michael Ray, who visited Stephen F. Austin this past weekend.
"He (Ray) wants to commit to Houston and he'll call the coaches tonight to tell him," La Marque defensive coordinator Chuck Vincent said. "He can play center or guard, and he is tenacious."
The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks received a solid commitment from linebacker Perron Sellers over the weekend, and a soft commitment from receiver Joseph Florence. Baylor and Alabama-Birmingham have also offered Florence, who will talk with coaches from the respective schools before solidifying his commitment.
"Right now SFA is number one, but I really want to talk with the two other schools," he said.
With Aundre McGaskey in the fold at Texas, that only leaves safety James Thomas left to make his Division I decision.
Thomas visited Arkansas last weekend and could make his decision by Wednesday. Arkansas coach Houston Nutt will have an in-home visit this week with Thomas and his decision could come rapidly.
"He loved the trip to Arkansas and with Coach Nutt coming to town, I'd be surprised is he doesn't commit to them by the end of the week," Vincent said. "He liked the atmosphere and the coaches a lot."
