KU gaining momentum with Davis

Kansas is one of two schools that have extended an offer to Kansas City (Mo.) Hogan Prep three-star 2017 athlete DaRon Davis. He has already visited Lawrence for a game this season and sees the Jayhawks rising in his recruitment.

"I made it to the KU game two weeks ago against Memphis," Davis said. "The atmosphere was great and it was fun, but they ended up losing. I was late because I had a football game, so I just got to the game, watched it and we ended up leaving."
Davis did not get a chance to talk with the Kansas coaching staff due to arriving late. That visit has fed a recent rise by Kansas in this recruitment, however.
Davis nearly made a decision over the summer to stay in-state, before postponing his decision and taking his recruitment out into his junior year.
"I was thinking about Mizzou, but I knew there were going to be more colleges sending me letters so I wanted to see who was all interested in me," Davis said. "I still have a lot of interest (in Mizzou), but I feel like they are not showing a lot of interest in me. It's mainly been KU - they send me letters every day and KU is kind of (gaining) my favor a little bit."
Davis is still interested to see what other schools have interest in him. He has heard from coaches at Nebraska, Notre Dame, Minnesota, Purdue, Arkansas and Michigan since the start of September.
"I get excited about all of them because I wasn't really expecting any of these colleges to send me anything," Davis said. "I really like Notre Dame. I just liked Notre Dame when I was little and I've been following them a little bit."
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Davis has helped Hogan Prep get out to a 5-0 start in the 2015 season. He plays running back and also lines up in the slot, having accounted for over 600 yards rushing and 200 receiving yards with 13 touchdowns.
