Kofa ready to make history at Charlotte

When Charlotte (N.C.) Independence wide receiver Workpeh Kofa made the decision to commit to Charlotte back in July, the decision took many by surprise. After all, Kofa was one of the highest ranked commits to ever commit to the 49ers and he had options from schools all over the country.
While the commitment resulted in celebration among the 49ers fan base, it's been business as usual for Kofa.

"It's not really a big deal," he said. "I'm just trying to make a name for myself and play as soon as possible. The chance to play early was a big factor in my decision."
The Charlotte campus is a short drive from Kofa's house, but he said he feels like he can still get the full college experience.
"Of course I want to get a way from everything and start over in college," he said. "But it's not too bad."
Kofa committed before the 49ers impressed on the field this fall and Kofa said the team's on-field performance only reaffirmed his commitment.
"I was real surprised," Kofa said. "Of course you're not going to do as well as you might want to because it's your first year. But when you start the process and keep bringing in big players that's how it works and you keep getting better."
With a pretty solid recruiting class now in the fold, Kofa said he's looking forward to helping the program reach the next level.
"I'm really excited to make history for the school, for myself and for my teammates," he said.
