Knoxville athlete gets Pac-10 offer

Knoxville (Tenn.) Catholic athlete Harrison Smith, who figures to be one of the top prospects in East Tennessee for the class of 2007, has picked up his fourth scholarship offer, according to KCHS assistant coach Stan Branson.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder received an offer from Stanford this week. The Cardinal join Tennessee, Boston College and Ole Miss in offering the versatile prospect.
Other schools are also starting to show some serious interest in Smith. Michigan, Duke, Indiana and Texas all have requested Smith's transcripts, according to Branson.
Smith racked up more than 1,500 yards of total offense as a junior. Despite his offensive prowess, he likely projects as a safety or a linebacker in college.
Smith's first offer was from the in-state Vols before Signing Day 2006.
Notre Dame, Alabama, Virginia and Virginia Tech also have been mentioned as teams that are possibly in the hunt for Smith.
It was previously reported that Smith would attend Junior Day in Tuscaloosa on March 4.
Smith will be at the Athens NIKE Camp April 29 on the campus of the University of Georgia.
