Knights get super-sized WR

Rutgers received a verbal commitment for one of their top wide receiver targets this past weekend.
Donnie Diaz of Grand Rapids (Minn.) Itasca Junior College will enroll at Rutgers in the Fall of 2003. The 6-foot-6, 200-pound receiver is extremely happy about his choice.

"I'm very excited to have this opportunity to play at Rutgers. My visit was great and I really was impressed with the coaching staff."
Last season Diaz had 46 receptions for 857 yards and 11 touchdowns in only nine games. Although he stands every bit of 6-foot-6, he has been clocked at 4.45-seconds in the 40-yard dash.
"I think that I have the ability to come into Rutgers and play right away. I want to help build that program and I'm excited about the chance."
With offers from Utah, Indiana and Idaho, Donnie just thought Rutgers was the best fit. Once he graduates in May, he will head to New Jersey for the summer to get ready for the upcoming season.
Diaz has two years of eligibility left.
