With two recent offers from Connecticut and Tulane, defensive tackle Hunter Knighton of Princeton (N.J.) Hun School is sitting comfortable with 11. The big tackle will be taking a few upcoming visits, including one next week.
"Recruiting is going great," said Knighton, who is 6-foot-5 and 267-pounds. "I have some visits lined up for the summer, and I'm still planning on waiting it out until the fall."
Knighton's upcoming visits will be to Rutgers, Northwestern, South Florida and Miami, all of whom have offered except for the Hurricanes.
"I'm visiting Rutgers on June 7th, Northwestern is the week of the 18th, Miami will be the 23rd and South Florida will be the day before or after that," said Knighton. "I want to see if academically they are a good fit. Also, I want to try to meet some of the players and see if they are the type of guys who are willing to compete with me to win championships."
Aside from the 11 offers he already has, several other schools may be close to pulling the trigger.
"Miami, Michigan State, West Virginia and UNC are probably the closest," said Knighton. "But I had no idea Tulane was going to offer, so who knows."
Knighton is looking to make a decision by mid-December at the latest, and in the meantime will continue to work to improve his game.
"I'm getting stronger everyday," said Knighton, who is also receiving some recruiting interest at offensive tackle. "I really want to get faster, and on defense I feel my get off could be improved as well."
