Knight narrows the field

Detroit (Mich.) Renaissance defensive back Derek Knight is trying to narrow down his rather lengthy list of scholarship offers. He has roughly 20 to select from.
"I've narrowed it down somewhat," Knight said. "I'm sure most of the MAC schools won't have a chance."

Some schools look like they will have a better chance than others.
"Schools such as Minnesota, Purdue, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, Iowa and Wisconsin," Knight said. "I'm looking at schools like that.
"And Georgia Tech and Arizona State are big on my list too. Those are two outside the Big Ten I'm definitely looking at."
However it won't be easy for any school outside the Big Ten to sign Knight.
"The Big Ten is pretty important to me," he said.
Knight says a final decision is going to wait awhile.
"I haven't scheduled any official visits," he said. "I'm pretty sure I'll visit Georgia Tech and Arizona State. Iowa is a possibility. I plan to take all five official visits.
"I can take unofficial visits to the closer Big Ten schools."
The 6-foot-0 and 192-pound Knight made 148 tackles and intercepted two passes during his junior season. He helped his team qualify for the state playoffs.
