Klein sure of decision

Anaheim (Calif.) Servite quarterback Dan Klein made an early decision last summer to commit to UCLA for baseball. However, several football schools including Cal, Washington State and UNLV offered as well and there was some question about what direction Klein would eventually go.
Klein, 6-3, 180 pounds had a solid junior season throwing for 2,005 yards and 15 touchdowns and rushed for another 480 yards. He shows up well on film and after a slow start this year, has looked very good the past two games.

Servite is coming off a bye but had previosuly defeated Orange Lutheran, led by USC bound QB Aaron Corp and St. Augustine, led by UCLA bound QB Chris Forcier. In both games, Klein was very sharp and many feel outplayed his talented counterparts.
So with his success on the field, it begged the question, does Klein still want to honor his baseball commitment or would he take a football offer allowing him to play both sports in college.
"I"m 100% committed to UCLA still," Klein said. "Signing Day for baseball is in two weeks and I'll be signing with UCLA at that time. For me, it really wasn't that hard of a decision. For one, I've always dreamed about going to UCLA, I've wanted to go there since I was a kid.
"I'm still hearing from a lot of schools for football, Cal, Washington, Washington State, Utha, UNLV, a few others but they're not UCLA. Also, as much as I like football, I think I have the best chance to succeed down the road in baseball as a pitcher than at quarterback.
"Back in the summer, UCLA was really the first school to offer me and once they did, I jumped on it. I gave some thought about playing both sports in college but being a pitcher and a quartereback, it's really hard to do both. Mechanically, the two are totally different so it really messes things up for me when I go from one sport to the next.
"Plus baseball is in the Spring so I would miss all of Spring ball for football and that's really when you learn the offense and all. I would be too far behind when I did get out there so I'm just going to stick with baseball and I'm really looking forward to it."
