Roanoke (Va.) Hidden Valley safety Jake Kite landed his first offer late last week. The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder pulled the scholarship from the ACC.
"I got an offer from Duke," he said. "It was definitely exciting, it came last Thursday.
"At first, I talked to Duke the day before. They told me they wanted to wait until I saw them in person. Then they showed my film to the head coach and they just said go ahead and offer them. They called my coach the next day and I called them later that night. They told me they like the way I play defensive back."

Does Kite know anything about the Blue Devils?
"It's definitely a great school and a great opportunity to be able to go up there," he said. "They are on the upswing and getting better and better each year."
Just landing his first offer was big in and of itself.
"I think that's definitely really important getting that first offer out there, to see you're Division I material."
Kite confirmed plans to visit Virginia this weekend followed by Duke next weekend.
At this time, Duke, Maryland and Virginia are the schools showing the most interest.
