Offer No. 1 came in recently for offensive tackle Mitch Kirsch. The Washington (D.C.) St. John's College High prospect noted that other schools are on the verge of offering too.
"Three weeks ago I was at Duke for a one day camp, I went to North Carolina, NC State and Virginia," he said. "At Virginia, James Madison offered me a scholarship.
"Then, on Friday I was at Boston College for a one day camp. I'm planning on going to James Madison this Friday to look around."
Kirsch touched on his first offer.
"It feels good to get my first offer," he said. "Hopefully a I-A schools come in. It still feels good."
Though it's not a Division I-A scholarship, BCS programs are very interested.
"Virginia is really, really interested," he said. "They pretty much are just telling me to sit tight. They had a bunch of other scholarships out, but most of those prospects committed at my position and in the next two weeks most likely I'll get my scholarships. That's where my head is set and I want to go."
If the Cavaliers offer, would he commit?
"Most likely," he said. "It's awesome. I went down there and liked what I saw. I loved the coaches and the area is phenomenal. It's a great school and the campus is beautiful. I spent a good hour with Coach Wachenheim, we got to know each other. I really, really liked it."
With six to seven camps under his belt, Kirsch is taking it easy the rest of the summer and instead focusing on getting better.
"I'm doing workouts three to four times a week up at school, getting ready for the season," he said. "I'm just trying to get bigger and do anything I can to help out my team."
