Kirkendoll playing the field

COLLEGE STATION - It's no secret that Round Rock, Texas wide receiver James Kirkendoll is a top receiver for the class of 2007. In a highly recruited state and after having a great junior season, offers have flooded in and has him thinking about future visits.
Kirkendoll, the 6-foot, 170-pounder, recently took in the NIKE Training Camp at Texas A&M and posted a sub-4.5 second 40-yard dash. Testing like that gives good reason as to why he's got scholarship offers from so many schools he can't name them all.

"I'm going to try," Kirkendoll said when asked to list his offers. "Miami, Kansas State, Kansas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Clemson, Colorado State, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, and I don't know about any others.
"It gets confusing sometimes."
Kirkendoll, who listed Miami high on his list, was talking about the possibility of a commitment once the Hurricanes offered. Since receiving the offer from the ACC school, he's still not ready.
"I just sat down with my family after they offered and thought about some things," Kirkendoll said. "We're just going to wait until probably June to make a decision."
When asked about favorites, the talented pass-catcher says things are even.
"I'm not really ready to commit just yet or name a leader," he said. "You could say I'm kind of open again. I just want to take some visits and see where it goes from there."
As for his camp performance, the highly competitive Texan said he wanted to do better.
"I had a slower 40-yard dash than I usually do, but I just have to keep working harder," he said. "It was a pretty good even though overall. I had a good time."
