After taking an unofficial trip to Houston's spring game this weekend, Kilgore (Texas) defensive end Wayne Daniels realized he had a decision to make.
After watching the Houston defensive line play, the 6-foot-3, 295-pound defender decided to go ahead and join his high school teammate.
"Yeah I committed," Daniels said about pulling the trigger for the Cougars. "You could say I kind of had a feeling about it before I left, but I didn't think I would do it then. I thought I would probably commit at summer camp or something."
"Once the game started, I got excited and decided to just get it over with."
With offers from Texas Tech and Kansas, the question that remains is whether or not he will take any more trips.
"Well I've never been out to Kansas and since they offered I may still go out there and visit," Daniels said.
Early playing time was also a factor in his decision as defensive coordinator and line coach Ron Harris told Daniels to expect time during his freshman season.
Daniels is just glad to be done with the process for now.
"It was eating me up at times," he said. "My dad really liked it and I'm glad to have it out of the way."
