Kilgo claims offer No. 1

Offer No. 1 has come in for Matthews (N.C.) Weddington defensive tackle Darius Kilgo. The 6-foot-4, 300-pounder pulled the scholarship from the Big Ten and has plenty of interest from other schools.
"I have an offer from Illinois," he said. "It's been awhile. It came to my school.

"I'm glad to have the offer, but I'm looking around. I'm hearing from Wake Forest, NC State, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Virginia and Clemson too."
Kilgo believes a couple more schools may be on the verge of offering.
"I've been talking to North Carolina a lot," he said. "Butch Davis came to my school and Coach Thigpen has been by. I'm trying to get up there for a junior day on the 28th.
"I've talked to Maryland too. They are going to keep in touch; we'll see where that goes. I may go on a visit to NC State soon for a visit as well."
As a junior, Kilgo posted approximately 10 sacks, one interception and three fumble recoveries on his way to all-county and all-conference honors.
"I was in better shape coming back and faster, stronger," he said. "I still want to work on my footwork and speed. I want to get even more ready for college."
