Kight takes in GT game

Joel Kight is a two-way standout from Lithonia (Ga.) Martin Luther King High School. Kight, 5-9 and 200 pounds, plays linebacker and running back. Some schools like him on offense and some on defense.
One college program that likes Kight on offense is Georgia Tech. He visited the Yellow Jackets this past weekend (unofficially) for their home game versus Mississippi State.
"It was a good game and I was sort of surprised they blew them out," Kight said. "But I had a good time. That was my first game at Georiga Tech. I liked the fans and the atmosphere in the stadium and before the game. Everyone was into game.
"Georgia Tech has not offered but I think they are close. I like them and I like their academics. A diploma from Georgia Tech is a good diploma. Coach (Paul) Johnson also has this offense looking real good right now. I like their family atmosphere."
It sounds as though the Yellow Jackets will be tough to beat if they offer Kight. But Kight says that's not true and he's open.
"I am open with all the school. I like Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Boston College and Oklahoma State. They have all offered but Tech. I hope to set up my visits soon. I am in the process of setting those up with my dad."
MLK is 2-1 on the season. Kight has 35 tackles and two sacks. They face Luella this weekend.
"I am playing okay. I know I can play better and I feel like I am improving each week. I am a more physical player this season and I have more knowledge of the teams. I am studying film rather than just watching film."
