Five-star quarterback Gunner Kiel of Columbus (Ind.) East made his commitment to Indiana back in July, but his recruitment may not be concluded.
"I am re-evaluating my decision and plan on taking visits to some other schools," Kiel told Rivals.com Friday morning.
The nation's top ranked pro-style quarterback informed Indiana head coach Kevin Wilson of that decision on Thursday night. His visits will start this weekend with a trip to Notre Dame to see the Irish host USC. This weekend's trip to South Bend will be an unofficial visit.
Notre Dame was one of several schools strongly considered in the lead-up to Kiel's commitment to Indiana over the summer. Others included Alabama, Oklahoma, Michigan, Missouri and Tennessee, though several of those schools have added quarterbacks in this class since Kiel made his commitment to Indiana.
Friday night, Kiel will lead his Columbus East team in the first round of the Indiana High School playoffs against Shelbyville. Through eight games he had completed better than 63 percent of his pass attempts for 1,759 yards and 19 touchdowns against just two interceptions. He had also rushed for 428 yards and an additional 12 scores on the ground.
