Kicker hopes showing pays dividends

Spring (Texas) Westfield kicker David Dyches hopes his performance in the U.S. Army All-American game will translate into more attention from colleges.
"I think I did alright on Sunday night," the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Dyches said of his performance in the game that was televised on ESPN2. "The performance I had should help me in the eyes of recruiters."

That performance saw Dyches get onto the field four times for the West squad.
"I had three kick-offs and got the ball well each time. Then I also had a 42 yards field goal. That one felt really good."
Dyches, the No. 12 rated kicker in the country, has been having conversations with Texas and Ohio State and hopes those pick back up after the quiet period ends.
"My coach thinks those two and others will be on the phone as soon as they can be again. Before the bowl season I was working on setting up visits with Texas and Ohio State. They both had games to get ready for and they had to kind of pause the recruiting. Then the dead period hit. We'll get to talking some more after this weekend."
