Kicker getting serious interest

As has been stated, it is very hard to earn a D-I scholarship as a kicker. Most schools will offer what is called a preferred walk-on opportunity. Which is a fancy way of saying that the school will look at you like a scholarship player.
Going to camps is a good way for kickers to get noticed unfortunately for place-kicker/punter/cornerback Jordan Kay (6-0, 190, 4.5) from Palos Verdes (Calif.) Peninsula he was nursing an injury and missed going camps this past summer.

Kay did go to the prestigious Ray Pelfrey kicking camp as a junior and was highly decorated for his performance at that camp.
There are not many kickers that have the toughness and athleticism of Kay.
Kay happens to be a football player who is a very talented kicker.
How many kickers are there that get selected all-league first-team as a cornerback. Well we know of one and he is Jordan Kay.
On the season, Kay hit on 7 of 11 field goals with a long of 48 yards. The 48-yarder came in crunch time at the close of the first half. Those points ended up being the difference of making the playoffs or sitting the post season out.
Poise is a very important ingredient for a successful kicker and Kay is one cool customer.
Kay’s four misses were from 55, 52, 49 and 40 yards and two of the missed were because of muffed holds.
Kay is also a very good punter who averaged 44 yards per punt.
Playing only eight games at cornerback Kay led Peninsula in unassisted with 17 tackles. He has caused two fumbles with big hits and has an interception. Kay packs a wallop and is a tremendous hitter.
A hitting kicker? Kay also stopped long returns on the kickoff team. He also returns kicks and has returns off 44, 33, and 20 yards.
Kay has been selected all-area as a kicker for his senior year performance.
Kay is currently being recruited by Texas A&M, Oregon State, Oregon, Cal and UC-Davis.
He has been offered preferred walk-ons from the likes of Wisconsin, Alabama, Vandy, Colorado State, USC, UCLA, Cal and more.
Kay hurt his ACL (non-kicking leg) and two weeks after his surgery Kay is already walking unassisted with an ACL winged brace.
