Kevin Whaley visits UConn

Virginia Beach (Va.) Salem running back Kevin Whaley headed out on his first official visit this weekend. The 5-foot-9, 166-pounder made his way north to Storrs to check out the Huskies.
"It was a good visit," he said. "I got there on Friday and met the team, players, saw how the campus was and then had dinner that night with the coaches.

"On Saturday, I checked out the practice early in the morning, met with all the coaches and got to know them and the players even more."
What did the three-star prospect think about the practice?
"It was very intense," he said. "Everybody worked hard, the coaches pushed them, they impressed me. They were all trying to help each other out and that's what I liked about it. Everyone was trying to win."
Whaley was hosted by Mike Cox on the visit.
"He's a cool guy," he said. "He wasn't the only one to talk to me. All the players told me the same thing, how Connecticut is a good school and a good place to be."
The No. 22 all-purpose back in the country met with Randy Edsall before leaving Storrs on Sunday.
"It was very nice, he was calm, respectful and the conversation was good," he said. "Mostly he talked about the campus and how he really wants me to play for them.
"The visit gave me a better idea of what goes on there and I'd say Connecticut stands out because of the visit."
At this time, Whaley hasn't yet scheduled any other trips.
