Kevin Harris has exploded onto the scene, he has an early leader

Everyone has been talking about Owen Pappoe and guys like Kenyatta Watson and Ronald Thompkins late last year as some of the best 2019 prospects in the state of Georgia. That trio out of Loganville (Ga.) Grayson still is, but you can add some other names to that list with one being Kevin Harris.

The 6-foot-5, 206 pound athlete has the size coaches covet, he is a freakish athlete with speed and explosion and many expect him to really come into his own this fall.

UAB was the first school to offer Harris earlier this year, and since, he has added offers from Georgia, Maryland, South Carolina and Tennessee. He is just taking it all in with new offers likely around the corner with coaches now on the road for spring evaluations.

"I am not even thinking about committing or anything like that yet," said Harris. "I am just getting the offers, looking over everything with my parents and getting out to as many schools as I can right now. I am just taking my times.

With all that said about taking his time and not thinking about committing at this time, Harris did say that he will commit whenever he feels the time is right. When will that be? Only he knows that answer.

One school has put itself into the top spot early on and it is the home-state Georgia Bulldogs.

"I really like the opportunity to stay home and be part of the in-state program," said Harris. "I have a strong relationship with coach [Kevin] Sherrer (outside linebackers) and I really think he could develop my game.

"He sees what I can be and with Georgia being close to home and a great overall program, they would have to be my No. 1 school right now."

Tennessee and South Carolina, two schools that Georgia lines up against each and every year are very much in the running too. Harris has visited those two schools and each is on his radar.

"My visit up to Tennessee was exciting. I got to see practice, I saw their great facilities and it was a great visit. I love their indoor facilities, the coaches there are great and it is a place I will probably visit again this summer.

"South Carolina is really showing me a lot of interest right now. Me and coach [Mike] Peterson (outside linebackers) talk a lot and he has told me about his time in the NFL and hoe he could work with me. The coaches at South Carolina is what really stands out about them."

Harris will see coaches from all three of those schools any many more in the coming weeks. He will likely double his offers in the next two to three weeks. He is expected to take off this fall and he has a chance to be one of the top prospects in Georgia for the 2019 class.

He is looking for a school who can offer that degree that "pops out" to those who could potentially hire him after his football career comes to an end. That, along with location will be two be factors. Harris is close with his family and he wants them to be able to see him play as much as possible.
