Ketchum keeps open mind

Houston (Texas) Lamar four-star athlete J.W. Ketchum is not in a hurry to make his decision right now. He does not have any official visits schedule and he is taking in all that he can at this point in the process.
"As of right now I'm having a pretty fun recruiting process," Ketchum said. "I'm taking it pretty slow and trying to take it step-by-step and overall just make a great decision on my choice of college. It's all going to come down to the small details - how much am I going to play, when I'm going to play. The quicker I get on the field the better. "

In the past he has been adamant about playing quarterback on the college level, but now he is open to other possibilities.
"Even if I can't play quarterback I would love to be on the field just having the experience of playing college football," Ketchum said. "Playing quarterback would be great, but switching positions wouldn't be so bad either."
In addition to quarterback he is receiving the most interest at wide receiver and safety.
He recently took an unofficial visit to Texas A&M, and he schools such as Texas, Auburn, Alabama, Oregon, and Nebraska have been listed high on his list at times during the recruiting process. Now he is not naming favorites, but he does know what he is looking for in a college program.
"It comes down to the little details," Ketchum said. "All the schools are great. It's college. It comes down to the small details with the coaching staff and how the players act…just overall the whole thing. Academics."
Ketchum is currently ranked No. 17 among the nation's 2015 athletes and No. 40 in the Rivals.com Texas Preseason Top 100.
Through seven games Ketchum has completed 20 of his 52 attempts for 440 yards and five touchdowns and five interceptions. He has also rushed for 790 yards and 14 touchdowns on 65 attempts as Lamar has moved to 6-1 on the season.
