Kerry Bonds mulls decision

Kerry Bonds is frustrated that his Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln team is 0-2, so he’s decided that he’s not yet ready to start focusing on his college decision.
“I haven’t really been able to talk to anybody because I’ve been so busy with school and everything,” Bonds said. “The season’s not going so great right now, we’re 0-2, but we’ll be all right.”

At least one new school has found a way to get his attention.
“Alabama has been talking to me, and they’re one of my favorite schools,” said Bonds, who holds scholarship offers from all of his favorites. “Maryland, Alabama, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Clemson and Iowa State are in there. I’m definitely still considering South Carolina, too.”
As team captain, Bonds said he needs to focus on the Trojans’ performance and his school, but he has also decided that he doesn’t want to put off his college choice for too long.
“I don’t really want to wait until the end of the season," he said. "I want to take some official visits, probably three, and I’ll probably wait until halfway through the season to take them.”
That means that some more schools will have to come off the list for the versatile playmaker, who was switched to the offensive line after week one, and will probably be used there most of the time for the remainder of the season. He feels that his future is still on the defensive line, where Bonds had six tackles and a sack in the season opener.
“Defense is where the heart and the home is," he said. "On offense you get to run and smack someone in the helmet sometimes, but not like on defense. It’s harder to play defense, and that challenge is what I like."
