Kentucky star up to 10 offers

Elizabethtown (Ky.) defensive end Brandon Deaderick was recently named as the No. 5 overall prospect in the Bluegrass State. He has also picked up four big new offers.
“I already had offers from Kentucky, Louisville, Cincinnati, Auburn, Florida and Michigan State,” Deaderick said. “I have recently picked up offers from North Carolina, North Carolina State, Tennessee and Alabama. That brings the total to ten now.”

The 6-foot-3.5, 232-pound Deaderick attended the NIKE camp at Ohio State in April. He ran the 40-yard dash in 5 seconds flat, had a 4.85 second shuttle, did 13 reps on the bench and had a 27-inch vertical jump.
“Right now I think pretty much all the schools that have offered me are even,” Deaderick said. “I guess I might be a little bit partial to the SEC, because I think it’s the best conference in America and I’m from the South and I grew up around it. I am still very interested in schools like Louisville, Michigan State, Cincinnati, North Carolina and NC State though.”
As a junior, Deaderick helped lead the Panthers to a 12-3 record and the Class 2A championship game, recording 95 tackles and 17 sacks en route to first-team all-state honors. He’s a relentless pass rusher who likes to punish the quarterback when he makes contact and also plays strong against the run.
“I would like to stay in the South so that my family could come and watch me play, but it isn’t a must,” Deaderick said. “I love the state of Kentucky and it’s very close to my family, but I have a lot of family and Alabama and Tennessee too. I have a few relatives that live in Florida, but I love the warm climate down there.
I want sit back and wait and see how these teams perform this year. Louisville will be very interesting to watch because they are joining the Big East. If a school has a disappointing season you can look at it as potential early playing time, but if they have a good season you can look at it as an opportunity to compete for conference and national championships.”
