Kentucky LB re-opens recruitment

Fort Campbell (Ky.) linebacker Gabe Wallace, who committed to Kentucky in June, says he has re-opened his recruitment.
“I re-opened things about three weeks ago because I felt like I made my decision too quick and wanted to weigh my options a little bit more before I just dive into things,” he said. “I don’t want to be unsure. College is too important.”

Wallace (6-1, 225, 4.65) said his decision wasn’t a negative reaction to Kentucky.
“No, not at all,” he said. “I still like them. I want to make one of my official visits there. But I just felt like I made my decision when UK was the only school that I had seen. I want to go check some other places out and see what they’re like before I make my final decision.”
Asked which schools he is still considering, Wallace said “Louisville, Cincinnati and Illinois. Mainly those three.”
His teammate at Fort Campbell, three-star safety Marcus McClinton, also made an early commitment to Kentucky. Wallace said he believes McClinton is firm with his verbal, and that could affect his final choice.
“Marcus is real happy with his decision,” he said. “And we’re real close, so if it comes down to it and none of these other schools are much better than Kentucky, that could be a big factor for me.”
The duo has helped lead Fort Campbell to an 11-1 record and the third round of the Class 2A playoffs. In the regular season, they spearheaded the state’s No. 1 ranked defense, allowing only 48 points in 10 games. The Falcons have recorded five shutouts and not allowed more than eight points in a game since the fourth game of the season.
Wallace has tallied a team-high 133 tackles, five forced fumbles, two sacks and one interception.
