Kentucky LB/DE picks Marshall

Marshall has picked up a verbal commitment from one of the Bluegrass State’s top prospects.
“I have committed to Marshall,” said Lexington (Ky.) Lafayette linebacker/defensive end Bilal El-Amin. “When I weighed all my options, I just felt that they were the best fit for me.

“They have a winning tradition, and the defensive end situation works out well for me. There is one senior and two juniors there now. After a year or so, I should have a good shot to be at the top of the depth chart.”
El-Amin (6-4, 235, 4.7) picked the Thundering Herd over a “grayshirt” offer from the hometown Kentucky Wildcats. He also had offers from Louisville, Miami of Ohio, Northwestern and Purdue.
“I liked Kentucky the most of those, but I just wasn’t feeling the grayshirt deal,” he said. “I didn’t want to be separated from the team so much as soon as I got to school.”
El-Amin recorded 47 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and five sacks as a senior.
