Kentucky first to offer 2017 GA DB

When he participated in Kentucky's Friday Night Blue Lights camp over the summer, Class of 2017 Fairburn (Ga.) Landmark Christian defensive back D.J. Brown was surprised when coaches took him, a rising sophomore, and put in him a group that was almost all rising senior prospects. But when given his chance, the 5-foot-10, 155-pound prospect held his own, and it led to a big moment.
"After I did a couple of reps and won the coaches had told me that they had seen enough," Brown said. "A couple of days later my dad talked to the coaches and they let him know that they were going to offer me."

The offer is Brown's first, and he said he was thrilled it came from an SEC school.
"It felt great," he said. "It was like finally a big burden off my chest, to get the first one from a school like Kentucky. Now that I've gotten one from them I know I should be getting more soon."
Brown said he enjoyed the trip to Lexington, both on and off the field.
"I liked their defensive backs coach, he was stern but he was also still a good teacher," Brown said. "The campus was nice, too. I liked the indoor facility a lot. The locker room was cool, too."
Brown has been invited to take several visits so far this fall, but has yet to make a game. He said he plans on changing that soon.
"I'm going to go to the Louisville-Clemson game," he said. "I'm also going to go to Alabama-Texas A&M and one of the Florida State games, I'm not sure which one yet."
Brown said both The Tide and Tigers are showing interest.
"I've been talking to the Alabama area recruiter and he wants to get me down there," Brown said. "I've also been talking to the Clemson defensive backs coach, they like me on offense or on defense. I also recently got some mail from Oregon and I was really excited because Oregon is one of my favorite colleges."
Through three games this season, Brown has 14 tackles and one interception on defense, with two touchdowns on offense.
