Markeith Gillis hints that he could be close to a commitment.
Gillis (6-1, 250, 4.6) has made four unofficial
visits to Miami (Ohio) this season, and has been thoroughly impressed by the
Redhawks.
"I like them a lot," he said. "I guess you could
tell that from how much I've been up there. They just have a nice football
program with good people. I like the way their coaches talk with you. They
show their players a lot of respect. It's just a real good atmosphere up
there."
Could a commitment be on its way?
"I've thought about it several times," he said.
"Their coaches really want me to go ahead and do it. I've been wanting to
keep my options open, but that's looking pretty good right now. I'll
definitely be going for an official visit, but I'm not sure what day yet."
Gillis, a member of the Rivals.com
Kentucky
Top 15 team, also has offers from Western Kentucky and
Tennessee Tech. He had an offer from Kentucky earlier this season, but the
scholarship-depleted Wildcats had to pull that one away from the hometown
star.
"They're still recruiting me, but mainly for
defense. Same with Louisville," he said. "My heart is with offense, so I'm
mainly looking at the teams who are recruiting me as a running back or a
fullback."
Gillis said he rushed for approximately 700 yards as
a senior.
