Kenny Phillips trims list, sets last visit

Miami (Fla.) Carol City safety Kenneth Phillips is one of the nation's most prized recruits and virtually every school in America would love to have him. He has now trimmed his list down to three schools, but for all practical purposes only three schools really remain in contention for his signature.
"Florida is out of it," Phillips said. "They really want me to come there and take an official visit, but I just don't think I am going to. It's a great school and all, but it's too late in the game to have to get to know a new coaching staff and start over on those relationships you have been building with these coaches since May."

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Phillips is ranked as the No. 1 safety prospect in the country, the No. 16 overall prospect nationally and the No. 2 player in the state of Florida by Rivals.com.
"I have already taken my visit to NC State and I am going to Miami on January 21 and Florida State on January 28," Phillips said. "I set up my official visit to Tennessee for January 17. It will be a mid-week visit and I am going to take it right after the U.S. Army all-star game. I'm down to those four schools NC State is still in it, but they are behind the other three at this point."
The past two days the Phillips home has had several high profile guests grace its presence.
"Earlier today coach Shannon and coach Walton from Miami were in here," Phillips said. "Yesterday I talked to Tennessee's defensive coordinator at the school and they had two coaches come by last night. Both of those are recruiting me really hard along with Florida and NC State. I have decided to wait all the way to signing day before I announce my decision."
