Kennedy staying in-state with SMU

Gilmer, Texas athlete Jamell Kennedy who has played all over the field for his top Texas program from quarterback to receiver has made up his mind on his college choice.
The 5-foot-10, 160-pounder held several offers from the likes of Rice, Tulsa, Arkansas State, Louisiana-Monroe, UTEP, and others, but decided that staying somewhat close to home where academics were a priority made the difference.

"Yeah I committed to SMU last week," Kennedy said. "Academics was big with me. I wanted to be in the computer field and that's the major I wanted to acquire while I was at college. I heard they're program was really good and I got along well with the coaches."
Kennedy says his recruiter, Jerry Bennett, was a coach that "got straight to the point."
"He's a good guy," Kennedy said. "I liked that about him."
As for whether or not he'll look at other options before Signing Day, Kennedy didn't sound too high on that idea.
"No, I'm pretty solid with SMU," Kennedy said. "That's where I want to be."
Gilmer and Kennedy continued their undefeated record by winning this past weekend defeating Athens 49-12.
