Kemp eyes Stanford visit

Four-star defensive end Carlo Kemp might not be as loud as many other prospects in the West region, but he's certain to make noise when he decides to end his recruitment.
Earlier this week, the Rivals250 member from Boulder (Colo.) Fairview added his seventh scholarship offer from Kansas State, and it ended a bit of a lull for the 6-foot-3, 250-pound prospect.

"Getting the Kansas State offer was pretty cool," Kemp said. "It had been a while since I got my last offer from Arizona State. It felt good to pick up another one. I rolled out of bed and found out Kansas State had offered and that was a pretty good way to start off the day."
In-state schools Colorado and Colorado State have offered, and so have Boise State, UCLA and Wyoming.
The top-rated prospect in Colorado and No. 167 overall according to Rivals.com has also been hearing a lot from Ohio State, Oregon and Stanford. He's set to visit the Cardinal for their junior day next month.
"I'm really looking forward to breaking down their academics," Kemp said. "I'm big on going to college -- not just to play football, but also to get a good education. Stanford offers the best of both worlds. Coach Tevita Pritchard has been talking to me the most and I'm excited to check it out. I'm still hopeful that maybe I could get a scholarship offer while on the trip."
Kemp intends to enroll early, so he'd like to narrow his list by the start of his senior season and then take all five official visits before deciding. The Bruins would also appear to be in good standing with the nation's No. 7-rated weakside defensive end.
"I have a good connection with coach Taylor Mazzone and Taylor Embree, who's from Colorado, too," Kemp said. "I've really liked UCLA for a while. I went out there last year and got to see a game with 90,000 people there. Coming from Colorado, that was definitely a new experience for me. I also did a little mini tour of campus and Westwood, and it's just a great area. It's hard to 70 degrees and sunny every day."
Kemp said visits to Ohio State and Oregon could also be possible this summer.
"For most schools that are interested in me, they want to play me in a hybrid position where I'm standing up off the edge or drop back in coverage as a linebacker," Kemp said. "I normally play defensive end in high school, but coaches plan to use me standing up. I think that fits me very well. Looking at the people that play defensive end in college, they're approaching 300 pounds. I just can't see where I'd be able to do that."
Kemp had 66 total tackles, including 20 for a loss, to go along with eight sacks as a junior last season. He also contributed on the offensive side of the ball, rushing for 11 touchdowns.
