Kelton commits to the Owls

Aledo, Texas has yet another Division I prospect headed for the next level. This time it's one of the bigger punters in the state.
The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Anson Kelton has played both defensive end and tight end over his career at Aledo, but his punting skills earned him a scholarship offer from Rice. Several weeks ago, he accepted that.

"I'm committed to Rice now," Kelton said. "I went down there for a visit, I liked the coaching staff, and I just really liked what they had to say. I'm going to be punting for them."
Kelton says that he is also a defensive end this year for his 3-0 Aledo team. His recruiter, Dean Jackson, had a lot to do with his decision.
"He's just a really nice guy," Kelton said. "I also had a chance to talk to the special teams coach. But, really, it was coach Jackson that got me interested in Rice.
TCU and Houston are two schools that have shown interest, but Kelton says that he's firmly committed to the Owls.
"I'm solid with my commitment," he said. "That's where I want to go and I'm pretty firm with that."
In the last game, Kelton says that he put one punt inside the five yard line and two inside the 20 yard line.
