Kelly wowed by landing Alabama

Caleb Kelly heard that Alabama assistant coach Lane Kiffin was in California so he immediately got excited about the news.
Then the 2016 linebacker caught wind that Kiffin would be stopping by Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West and so he asked his coach whether the Crimson Tide planned to offer. The answer was yes and when Kiffin arrived at the school on Wednesday, the Alabama offer came through.

"He came by the school," Kelly said. "I only introduced myself, got his card and left because they're not allowed to talk to us very much. I didn't get to talk to him but I got to meet him really quick and I got to call him on the phone and that's when I found out I got the offer.
"I hoped that eventually that they would come. I heard he was in California and I talked to my coach and he said they were going to come over to the school. I asked him if they're going to offer me and he told me they were going to offer me so I was pretty excited. It's my first SEC offer so that's really cool."
So far, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound prospect has been offered by Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Fresno State, Miami, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USC and Washington State.
Landing an offer from the Crimson Tide is definitely important but Kelly said his recruitment is still in the early stages so he doesn't have any favorites yet.
"Everybody is still even for me," Kelly said. "I haven't started cutting anything down yet because I still have a long time to go. I'm just taking everything in."
Even though the Fresno Clovis West standout has not named a frontrunner, getting an offer from Alabama is definitely noteworthy.
It's one that should stick out throughout his recruitment.
"It's crazy," Kelly said.
"So many people have gone there, so many championships, especially lately. You just hear Alabama, Alabama, Alabama. When I really got into college football it was Alabama winning championships so to get that offer is crazy."
