Kelly talks Michigan offer

Oak Park (Mich.) three-star athlete John Kelly has seen increased interest from Michigan this fall, and on Monday he landed an offer from the Wolverines.
"After practice today me and coach (Greg) Carter called up coach (Chris) Singletary," Kelly said. "He was explaining to Coach Carter that I was hard to reach because I am so locked into the football season.

"Once me and him started talking, coach (Brady) Hoke got on the phone and broke the news to me. I immediately started to run through the school halls then. I couldn't even explain how happy I was."
Michigan has been recruiting Kelly since his sophomore year of high school. Despite the late offer, he is considering the Wolverines.
"I feel like having the opportunity to play for UofM can open so many doors for me even if I don't choose the school," Kelly said. "I'm just all around happy and my family is very proud of me. I just love making people proud."
Kelly has yet to take any official visits, but has said in the past he would like to take all five if he can. Michigan State and Minnesota have been the two leaders for Kelly since last spring.
"I'm considering all the schools that have interest in me," Kelly said. "Michigan is just one of the schools that have players up there already that I'm close with, so that helps them a lot."
Visits to Minnesota (Oct. 11) and Michigan State (Oct. 25) for games have already taken place this month. His next game visit could be to Ann Arbor.
"I might be down there this Saturday," Kelly said.
The 5-foot-10, 190-pound Kelly has played all over the field for Oak Park this season and could project to several positions in college. He said Michigan is recruiting him as a defensive back.
