Kelly schedules Minnesota official visit

The senior season of Oak Park, Mich., athlete John Kelly came to an end last Friday. Now the three-star prospect is turning his attention to his recruitment and he has scheduled his first official visit.
"As of now, I'll be heading out to Minnesota for an official on Dec. 12," Kelly reported. "I talked to Coach (Jeff) Jones about it a little bit and I'm also going to talk to Coach (Jerry) Kill about it later today. I am really excited. It is always a great experience every time I get down there.

Minnesota has long held a spot at the top of Kelly's interest list, but they are joined by a pair of in-state schools.
"Two other schools I know I am going to visit for sure are Michigan and Michigan State, I just haven't scheduled the dates yet," Kelly said.
Michigan is the most recent offer for Kelly, and he does plan to visit Ann Arbor before the college season ends.
"With Michigan, I am going to be up at the game when they play Maryland (Nov. 22). That will probably be an unofficial," Kelly said. "I have been in contact with Coach (Chris) Singletary just about every week. It's really the connections and atmosphere up there."
Michigan State, like Minnesota, has held a spot at the top of Kelly's interest list since last spring, and his relationship with the Spartans remains strong.
"I talk to those guys just about every day," Kelly said. "I just got off the phone with Coach (Brad) Salem a few minutes ago. He was just checking up with me."
Although National Signing Day is less than three months away, Kelly is in no rush and is also not focused only on Michigan, Michigan State and Minnesota.
"I could even take it to January, possibly," Kelly said. "My recruiting process is wide open at this point. Those are just three of the top schools that are really on me and I'm going to evaluate more than the others."
Oak Park finished off an 8-3 season last Friday with a tough 14-13 loss to Southfield. The 5-foot-10, 191-pound Kelly rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown in that game.
