Kelly close to commitment

Jermaine Kelly has made it no secret that UCLA is his leader and the Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian athlete could make his decision within a week or so.
"That actually is true," Kelly said. "What stands out is they have a great coaching staff. Jim Mora is a great guy, coach Demetrice Martin, Eric Yarber, Noel Mazzone, I can go on and on about the coaching staff.

"They're a great group of guys and they all seem to like me. They all like me because of my speed, my height and my ability to cover and I can pick up on things really quickly. If I was to go there I'd have a great opportunity to play right away."
Kelly, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound three-star prospect, could play wide receiver or defensive back in college and has shown he can excel at either position in numerous camps and 7on7 settings this off-season.
The Los Angeles Salesian standout lists offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Hawaii, Memphis, Minnesota, San Diego State and UCLA. Kelly said a decision is coming shortly as he continues to look at his recruitment.
"I'm thinking about making my choice in a week or so," Kelly said. "One more week and I'll have it out there."
First, the three-star prospect who's rated No. 88 in the California state rankings by Rivals.com has one more visit to make. Kelly is taking a trip to Washington's camp this week to see what the Huskies have to offer.
"I go to the Washington camp and I'm going to see what they're talking about," Kelly said. "I fly out there on Wednesday of this week. I'm going to see what they have to offer me and we'll see where it goes from there."
