Keep an eye on San Diego LB

San Diego St. Augustine linebacker Michael Silva is a name that recruiting fans out West already know about, but he's also starting to gain national attention, too.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound inside linebacker has a great nose for the ball and is an amazing tackler with his ability to roam the field sideline-to-sideline.

"He's one of those rare combinations of great kid and great football player," said St. Augustine coach Jerry Ralph. "The No. 1 thing he has is speed for a linebacker. He's also big enough to be a good strong safety or outside linebacker. He'll even come out of the backfield for us or line up at receiver. He's that talented."
Silva is talented enough to earn early recruiting attention from Colorado (camp), Northwestern (brother is there), Stanford and Harvard. While he doesn't have any offers yet, that' surely soon to change.
"I think that I impressed the coaches at Colorado when I was there for their one-day camp," Silva said. "They really seem to like me a lot, and I think they are a good school. They are building a new weight room and have great facilities."
Silva is also high on Northwestern, where is brother Billy Silva is a linebacker at.
"My brother is up there, so I know what to expect, and I know the coaches," Silva said. "I've gotten to know the campus area really well. They have the nicest coaches."
Silva said he's also eyeing Stanford and Harvard for their strong academics.
So what does he think about all of this attention?
"I think it's great," Silva said. "I'm glad to hear people say stuff like that. It's easy to get fired up hearing that college coaches and your coach thinks so highly of you."
Not to mention, Rivals100.
