Kearney makes his pick

Interest was coming strong for quarterback Nolan Kearney from Downingtown (Pa.) Downingtown West from numerous Division I schools. The 6-foot-4, 231-pounder however decided to make his decision in favor of William & Mary.
"I committed to William & Mary on Monday," he said. "Academically it's probably one of the top schools in the nation.

"I like the coaches there a lot too. They are trying to work on rebuilding the program, back to the year when they made a run for the national championship. For me, it's the right place to be."
Clearly the coaches were influential in Kearney's decision. What did he like about them?
"Coach Laycock has been there for 26 years," he said. "He is that program and then the recruiting class coming in with me is loaded with talent.
"I also like my recruiter, coach Scott Boone a lot. He's the best recruiting coach out there. I really enjoyed talking to him and he helped me a lot with the decision."
As for playing time, it's not clear when the Keystone State prospect will see the field for the Tribe.
"I've talked to the coaches about getting on the field early," he said. "I know they are returning a quarterback, so I might have to redshirt this upcoming year. We'll just have to see."
