KC athlete lands offer No. 1

Kansas City (Mo.) University Academy has two prospects that are getting interest from college coaches. One of those players picked up his first scholarship offer last week.
According to coach Damon Paul, his quarterback/athlete Darrenn White landed his first offer last week from a Mountain West program.

"Darrenn just picked up an offer from Wyoming," Paul said. "They want him to play quarterback, but I think they're recruiting him as an athlete. He's excited about the first offer. We hope it's the first of many more.
"Schools that run the spread are interested in Darrenn as a quarterback. Some others are recruiting him as an athlete, and the rest want him as a cornerback."
The other player at University Academy getting attention is Austin LeBlanc. LeBlanc had a very solid outing this past weekend at the Los Angeles NIKE Camp. He was among the more impressive looking players at the linebacker position, and he more than passed the eyeball test.
"With Austin, he's being looked at as a linebacker," Paul said.
"He played SAM linebacker his freshman year, but we moved him to defensive end after that because it fit our scheme. He was all-district as a freshman at linebacker, so he'll be able to play that in college."
