Kaufusi has Pac-12 leader

It's been a fruitful year for Loa Kaufusi on the recruiting front and the three-star tight end hit the road over the weekend for a very important visit.
The 6-foot-4, 205-pound prospect from Salt Lake City (Utah) East made it out to Stanford, which offered him a scholarship this past summer, and the Cardinal certainly made an impact.

Kaufusi has a number of Pac-12 options as well as in-state BYU in heavy pursuit, but he told Rivals.com the Cardinal hold an edge after his weekend stay in Palo Alto.

IN HIS WORDS: "It was a great experience seeing the Stanford campus," Kaufusi said. "The atmosphere was amazing and the academics are second to none. Coach Lance Anderson is the one I've been in touch with and he's a great guy. They have offered me as an outside linebacker, and I am working on the admissions application. Most of it is done -- I've just got to complete a couple essay questions -- and then I'll know for sure.
"For now, Stanford is definitely at the top of the list. They are No. 1 with the things they are able to provide both academically and in football. Utah is my No. 2. Coach Morgan Scalley is another great guy and he stays in touch with me on a weekly basis. There are a lot of things I love about Utah, especially the business school."
WHAT'S NEXT?: Kaufusi has yet to schedule any official visits but he intends to make a local stop this weekend to see the Utes take on Oregon State, another school that has offered. He has also planned a return trip to the Golden State to see the Cardinal against rival California for the Nov. 20 weekend. The application process with Stanford is the biggest factor moving forward and it certainly appears that if Kaufusi is accepted, a decision would soon follow.
